The Weaving of All Things: A Martian Classroom Tale
Unedited (Last Short Story Written in 2025)
The morning light filtered through the dome of Olympus Settlement, casting long copper shadows across the red clay floors of the schoolhouse. It was early spring by the Martian calendar, what the settlers called Renewal Season, when the hydroponic gardens erupted in green glory and the community prepared for the yearly remembrance of their ancestral home.
I watched the children file into my classroom, their faces bright with anticipation. Today was Earth History day, always a favorite among my seventh-grade students. They settled into their curved wooden desks, desks crafted from trees grown in our own forest domes. A reminder that we had learned, finally, to live alongside nature rather than against it.
